Golden West Humanitarian Foundation | Unexploded Ordnance
Golden West’s team of ordnance experts develop innovative technology designed to save lives, protect the environment, and keep operators out of harms way.
Golden West’s team developed the Mobile Ordnance Disposal System (MODS) because they needed a way to render devices save without exposing unnecessary risk to personnel. This system allows us to reduce explosive hazards without explosions. The MODS is cost effective system to dispose of unwanted ordnance without the devastating environmental damage caused by the unnecessary detonation of unexploded ordnance.
The MODS is designed by experts in the field, who understand that ordnance removal systems must be portable to be effective. The MODS is easy for EOD teams to transport. HTS specifically designed its module system for air freight, so the MODS can be on-hand anywhere it’s needed. Deployment time is rapid, with setup time taking one hour.
A heavy-duty bandsaw with built-in ordnance cooling features, the MODS’s 10-inch capacity can easily accommodate ordnance up to an MK82 bomb.
Once on-site, MODS requires a 6.5 hp (5 KVA) gas generator as a power source. MODS features lifting eyes and forklift features for maneuverability in the field.
Featuring hardwired controls, the MODS features an operating distance of 300 meters. EOD teams can monitor the situation using two camera feeds, which are transmitted over embedded ethernet cable.
MODS can accommodate sizable ordnance. In addition to its 10-inch capacity, MODS can lift and support 1.5 tons using a blockchain hoist and frame system. The stand supports and secures ordnance during cutting, ensuring a safe and effective process.
When time is of the essence, turn to MODS’s innovative cutting system. MODS can cut through 500 pounds in less than 20 minutes, allowing for rapid progress. More than 23,000 different types of ordnance items can be cut by MODS. This includes GPLD bombs, submunitions, landmines, and more. A versatile and valuable tool, MODS can dispose of projectiles ranging between 25mm and 175mm in diameter.
MODS also includes an additional burner system to safely dispose of fuzes and submunitions. This burner system features remote-controlled burners that light any remaining explosives in the ordnance case. The fuze initiates due to heat, leaving it safe to handle . This system can be used for the disposal of submunitions, offering another valuable resource for ordnance disposal.
Safety features include an instant remote shut-off function. To fully support your EOD team
