Rommel Meza - A Celebration of His Life

May 2nd, 2025

On May 2, 2025 I had the honor of attending the internment service of Rommel G. Meza, retired U.S. Navy CWO4, EOD Technician, former CEO of Golden West Humanitarian Foundation. It was a beautiful, sunny day at Arlington National Cemetery, blue sky, not a cloud in site. As I watched the outstanding class, and professionalism of the Navy Honor Guard, Band, and firing party- I was awestruck by the commitment to duty, honor, and service.

Looking around I couldn’t help but be moved by the tremendous outpouring of family, friends and former colleagues. Scattered liberally throughout the attendees were uniformed service members from the Navy, U.S. Air Force, and U.S. Army. I noted people from the U.S. State Department, retired Marines, family and friends.
It is amazing when one can observe the tremendous impact a single individual has had upon this earth. It was abundantly clear, Rommel touched the lives of his family- his wife, his sons. He was loved and respected by his fellow Sailors in and out of the EOD community. He was loved and respected by those he knew in the sister services.

It was an emotional day, realizing that Rommel lived his life as a life of service- service to his family, his nation, and ultimately as a humanitarian. Golden West is proud to have had Rommel helm our organization, even though it was far too short a time. Today, as his remains were interred, I would like to extend a farewell and say – Golden West Humanitarian Foundation is proud to have had Rommel in our Foundation.
